Thanksgiving is right around the corner which means a couple things: feeling ultra grateful for life, the start of winter, lots of time with family and friends and, of course, pie. We love all thanksgiving food, but if we're being honest pie is the clear winner. Anyone with us? If so, we'd like to introduce you to one of our favorite Denver vendors, The Long I Pie. Shauna at The Long I Pie is bubbly, so fun to be around and makes the best pies you'll ever try. Whether you need to place a thanksgiving order, an everyday order or want pie at your wedding, Shauna is your girl!
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS
I believe that making pie is a mix of art and science all wrapped up in the feeling of family and home. At The Long I Pie Shop, we believe that our pies are an art that you can consume. The Long I Pie Shop bakes our pie in cast iron skillets which makes the crust extra buttery, flaky, and delicious. You'll love it! We use both family recipes like Grandma's Spiced Apple Cranberry Pie and experimental recipes that we've developed in our own kitchen such as The Honey Flower.
I also teach pie making classes throughout Denver. I truly believe that even better than selling you a pie is teaching you how to make a pie, so that you can make it and share it around a table with your family and friends.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN BAKING & PIE MAKING?
My grandma taught me to bake pie at a very early age and my mom continued cultivating that love throughout my life. When my grandma passed away about 5 years ago, I began baking pies for my friends to process the grief. They loved them so slowly baking pies for them turned into selling them at markets and now I have a store front.
FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR JOB?
My favorite part of my job is meeting with clients to design what they’d like their dessert table to look like and be comprised of. It’s so amazing to get to have a small part in a couple’s big day that starts their adventure into marriage.

CAN WE GET THANKSGIVING PIES FROM YOU?
Absolutely! You can stop by the shop (321 E 45th Ave.) to order or order online ( www.thelongipie.com/goods/holidaypies ) until 11/16. Pick up at the shop is scheduled for 11/21,11/22, or 11/23. Our menu this year is Spiced Apple Cranberry, Salted Honey Lavender, Bourbon Chocolate Pecan, Sweet Potato Ginger, and Pumpkin Chocolate. We have GF options available as well.
YOU WERE ONE OF OUR BRIDES THIS PAST YEAR. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR THOSE ABOUT TO GET MARRIED?
Three things:
Learn to take a lot of deep breaths during the planning season.
Prioritize what matters to you the most as a part of your big day and be flexible with the rest.
Make sure you have dates with your fiancé where you DO NOT TALK ABOUT WEDDING THINGS!
